February 2024: We hope you are enjoying the first signs of spring. Today we would like to tell you about the Christmas season in our four projects and look ahead to the new association year 2024.
As usual, our village project provided for particularly poor families in the region during the Christmas period. In addition to the survival packages, the children received small gifts. In the preschools, great farewell parties were organized for the children starting school with delicious food, loud music, dancing and lots of fun. At the beginning of March, the new preschool children will receive small gym bags with school materials, soap, toothbrushes etc. for their first day at school. In 2024, the plan is to install new toilets and water tanks at some preschools, paint one building and plant more vegetable gardens.
The annual Christmas dinner was served in the feeding project in Greytown on December 21, 2023. There was a delicious buffet with chicken, lentils, potatoes, rice and various vegetables. 40 hungry children and 224 adults visited the soup kitchen that day. To everyone's delight, each child received a small Christmas present with coloring materials and toiletries. For the adults, a total of 50 food parcels were also handed out for their family members.
At the Greytown children's home, the big Christmas party was held at the end of November - the highlight of the year for the children with a great program and presents. Afterwards, most of the children went to their relatives or foster families for the long summer vacation. The housemothers are very proud of this year's school graduates, who received excellent certificates with awards. The children's home took in many new children again in 2024, some of whom are still very young (the youngest child is only 2 years old). Our donations will be used for new clothes and hygiene articles, among other things. Every month parties are organized for the respective birthday children, which the children are always very happy about.
The families supported in our township project are extremely grateful for the food and toiletries.The support provided by our hard-working social worker Phindile is also very important in helping those affected by difficult fates. For the new school year, we want to finance the obligatory uniforms for particularly poor families again, as well as water tanks to irrigate the small vegetable gardens.
Netto fundraising campaign "Get involved for your organisation" enters its second round
Thanks to your support, we had a donation partnership last year as part of the regional Netto fundraising campaign "Get involved for your organisation". By rounding up at the checkout and donating deposit receipts, we raised an impressive 208.82 Euros for Siyabonga. Great!
